60 Cases of Infantile Anorexia Treated by Jian Pi Xiao Shi Jian and Zinc Gluconate [1]

All the cases are paediatric outpatients. The main syndromes are anorexia, apastia, less taking vegetables, pedatrophy, constipation or loose stool, night sweating or perspiration. Most of the sick children are easy suffering from the respiratory diseases such as catching cold, tracheitis, etc. the treatment group and control group are randomly divided. In the treatment group, 60 cases are treated by self-made Jian Pi Xiao Shi Jian; and the prescriptions are: Dang Shen [3] 6g, Bai Zhu [4] 6g, Fu Ling [5] 12g, Gan Cao [6] 5g, Mai Ya [7] 12g, Lai Fu Zi [8] 5g, Zhi Shi [9] 4g, Mu Xiang [10] 3g (decocted late) and Bing Lang [11] 3g. Modification: add Huang Jing [12] 10g for anorexia, pedatrophy, night sweating and constipation; add Huang Qi [13] 10g, Huai Shan Yao [14] 12g and Bian Dou [15] 10g for anorexia, perspiration and frequent loose stool, take Zinc Gluconate in oral by 3.5mg/kg, three times a day. The 11 cases in control group take Zinc Gluconate with same usage and dose as the treatment group, Motilium in oral by 0.3mg/kg, 3 times a day; and take both Lactasin and Vitamin B1 for 0.5~1 pills according to the ages, 3 times a day. Both groups are treated by 10 days.
Treatment results: the total curative effective rate is 96.7% for treatment group and 80.0% for control group.
