Stomach Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-between tendons of rectus muscle of thigh and lateral vastus muscle of thigh-lateral side of the tendon of intermediate vastus muscle of thigh.
In the superficial layer, there are the anterior cutaneous branches of the femoral nerve and the lateral cutaneous nerve of the thigh. In the deep layer, there are the descending branches of the lateral circumfiex femoral artery and vein and the muscular branches of the femoral nerve.


Location:
Sitting upright with flexed knees; 2 cun vertically above the external superior border of the knee joint.
Function:
Regulating the flow of the flow of qi to alleviate pain, and clearing and activating channels and collaterals.


Indications:
Pain and numbness of the knee, gastric pain, mastitis, motor impairment of the lower extremities.


Prescription:
Combined use with ChizeLU5 (Chize (LU5)He-Sea Point) for treatment of mastitis; with GongsunSP4 (Gongsun (SP4) Luo-Connecting Point, The Eight Confluent Point) for treatment of gastritis; with QuquanLR8 (Ququan (LR8) He-Sea Point) and YanggangBL48 (Yanggang (BL48)) for treatment of stiffness of knee.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly 0.5-1.0 cun deep; needling response: local sensation of distension; moxibustion: using 3-7 moxa-cones, mild moxibustion for 15 min.
