Stomach Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-lateral border and anterior sheath of rectus muscle of abdomen-lateral border of rectus muscle of abdomen.
In the superficial layer, there are the anterior and lateral cutaneous branches of anterior branches of the 11th and 12th thoracic nerves and the 1st lumbar nerve, and the superficial epigastric artery and vein, In the deep layer, there are muscular branches of the anterior branches of the 11th and 12th thoracic nerves.


Location:
Supine position; 3 cun below the level of umbilicus, 2 cun apart from the midline of the abdomen  laterally .
Function:
Relaxing the bowels and inducing diuresis retention, regulating the menstruation, and alleviating pain.


Indications:
Lower abdominal distension, retention of urine, edema, hernia, and dysmenorrhea.


Prescription:
Combined use with YinlingquanSP9 (Yinlingquan (SP9) He-Sea Point) for treatment of cystitis; with ShuifenCV9 (Shuifen (CV9)) and FuliuKI7 (Fuliu(KI7) Jing-River Point) for treatment of edema; and with JinsuoGV8 (Jinsuo (GV8)) for treatment of back rigidity.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly 0.5-1 cun deep; needling response: local sensation distension, irradiating towards the pudendal area; moxibustion: using 7-15 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
