Qing Dai

Clear Heat

1 TASTE
Salty and cold


2 MERIDIANS
Liver, lung and stomach


3 FUNCTIONS
1. To clear heat and release toxins; 2. To cool blood and reduce swelling


4 INDICATIONS
1. Eruptions due to toxic heat in the blood. Natural indigo (Qing Dai) is used with Gypsum (Shi Gao) and Fresh rehmannia root (Sheng Di Huang) in the formula Qingdai Shigao Tang.2. Hemorrhagic disease due to extravasation of the blood by heat manifested as vomiting of blood, epistaxis and cough with blood and sputum. Natural indigo (Qingdai) is used with Biota tops (Ce Bai Ye) and Imperata rhizome (Bai Mao Gen).3. Infantile convulsions due to high fever. Natural indigo (Qingdai) is used with Ox gallstone (Niu Huang) and Uncaria stem (Gou Teng) in the formula Liang Jing Wan.4. Heat in the lungs manifested as cough, asthma and cough with thick yellow sputum. Natural indigo (Qingdai) is used with Trichosanthes fruit (Gua Lou), Tendrilled fritillary bulb (Chuan Bei Mu) and Costazia bone (Hai Fu Shi) in the formula Qingdai Haishi Wan.5. Acute mumps, boils and carbuncles. Natural indigo (Jin Yin Hua) and Forsythia fruit (Lian Qiao).


5 DOSAGE
1.5-3 g


6 COUTIONS
This substance is contraindicated during to cold in the stomach.
