Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-trapezius muscle-latissimus muscle of back-erector spinal muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the cutaneous branches of the posterior branch of the 8th thoracic nerve and the accompanying artery and vein. In the deep layer, there are the muscular branches of the posterior branch of the 8th thoracic nerve and the branches or trbutaries of the dorsal branches of the 8th posterior intercostal artery and vein.


Location:
Lie prostrate or pronely; 1.5 cun lateral to the posterior median line, between the spinous processes of the 8th and the 9th thoracic vertebra.
Function:
Regulating qi for relieving pain.


Indications:
Diabetes, vomiting, abdominal pain, and pain in the chest and hypochondriac regions.


Prescription:
Combined use with FeishuBL13 (Feishu (BL13)), PishuBL20 (Pishu (BL20)), ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point), TaixiKI3 (Taixi(KI3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point) for treatment of diabetes.


Methods:
Insert the needle obliquely to 0.3-0.5 cun deep; needling response: local distension and soreness; moxibustion: using 5-7 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10-20 min.
Note:
Don`t puncture deeply, or it would indue pneumatothorax.
