Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-trapezius muscle-rhomboid muscle-superior posterior serratus muscle-splenius muscle of neck-erector spinal muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the medial cutaneous braches of the posterior branch of the 8th cervical nerve. In the deep layer, there are the branches or tributaries of the deep cervical artery and vein and the transverse cervical artery and vein and the muscular branches of the posterior branches of the 8th cervical and 1st thoracic nerves.
The related muscles, blood vesels and nerves are not totally alike because the location of each point is different.The layer structures are usually.


Location:
Lie prostrate or pronely; locate DazhuiGV14(Dazhui (GV14)) on the lower border of spinous process of the 7th cervical vertebrae on the posterior median line, 0.5 cun lateral to DazhuiGV14(GV14) on the left and the right side respectively.
Function:
Relieving cough and asthma, relaxing muscles and tendons.


Indications:
Asthma, cough, rigid neck, pain in the shoulders and back, and rubella.


Prescription:
Combined use with DanzhongCV17 (Danzhong (CV17) Front-Mu Point of the Pericardium), NeiguanPC6 (Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point), DazhuiGV14 (GV14), ZhongchuanPC9 (Zhongchong (PC9) Jing-Well Point), FenglongST40 (Fenglong (ST40) Luo-Connecting Point) for treatment of asthma; with TiantuCV22(Tiantu (CV22)), DazhuiGV14 (GV14), FenglongST40 (ST40) for treatment of whooping cough; with FengmenBL12(Fengmen (BL12)), FeishuBL13 (Feishu (BL13)), HeguLI4 (Hegu (LI4) Yuan-Source Point) for treatment of bronchitis; and with TiantuCV22 (CV22), XuanjiCV21 (Xuanji (CV21)), DanzhongCV17 (CV17), NeiguanPC6 (PC6), FenglongST40 (ST40) for treatment of bronchial asthma.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly to 1-0.5 cun deep; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
Note:
The lower part of the point is just opposite to the cupula of pleura and the apex of lung. Deep puncture should be avoided.
