Conception (Ren) Vessel

Regional Anatomy:
Skin subcutaneous tissue-linea alba-transverse fascia-extraperitoneal fat tissue-parietal peritoneum.
In the superficial layer, there are the anterior cutaneous branches of the anterior branch of the 9th thoracic nerve and the tributaries of the superficial epigasteic vein.In the deep layer, there are the branches of the anterior branch of the 9th thoracic nerve.


Location:
Lie supinely; draw a line connecting xiphoid process and umbilicus, a spot on this line, 7/8 apart from xiphoid process, or 1/8 apart from umbilicus.
Function:
Strengthening the spleen and promoting diuresis.


Indications:
Abdominal pain, borborygmus, edema, retention of the urine, and Diarrhea.


Prescription:
Combined use with ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of nephritis; with QuquanLR8 (Ququan (LR8) He-Sea Point) for treatment of tuberculous peritonitis; with PishuBL20 (Pishu (BL20)) and FeishuBL13 (Feishu (BL13)) for treatment of ascites due to cirrhosis; with QihaiCV6 (Qihai (CV6)) for treatment of vomiting; with ShenqueCV8 (Shenque (CV8)) and QihaiCV6 (CV6) for treatment of periumbilical pain; and with FuliuKI7 (Fuliu(KI7) Jing-River Point) for treatment of edema.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly to 0.5-1 cun depth; needling response: local distention and heaviness; moxibustion: using 7-9 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
Note:
The organs involved include the greater omentum, the small intestine, the stomach, the pancreasin and the inferior vena cava ( on right side ) and / or the abdominal aorta ( on left side )
in the posterior side in the abdominal cavity. Be careful when puncyuring.
