Governor (Du) Vessel

Regional Anatomy:
The layer structures of the needle insertion are the same as those in Jizhong (GV6) (GV 6).
In the superficial layer, there are the medial cutaneous branches of the posterior branches of the 3th thoracic nerve and the accompanying artery and vein.In the deep layer, there are the external (posterior) vertebral venous plexus between the adjacent spinous processes, the branches of the posterior branches of the 3th thoracic nerve and the branches or tributaries of the dorsal branches of the dorsal branches of the 3rd posterior intercostal artery and vein.


Location:
Lie prostrate or pronely; in the depression of the lower side of spinous process of the 3rd thoracic vertebrae at the meeting point of connecting the posterior median line and the line connecting the highest point of two spina scapulae.
Function:
Regulating the lung, arresting convulsion and relieving pain.


Indications:
Cough, asthma, epilepsy, pain and stiffness of the back, and furuncles.


Prescription:
Combined use with WeizhongBL40 (Weizhong (BL40) He-Sea Point, Lower Confluent Point) for treatment of furuncle; with FengmenBL12 (Fengmen (BL12)) for treatment of whooping cough; with ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of rickets; with BenshenGB13 (Benshen (GB13)) for treatment of epilepsy; with GeshuBL17 (Geshu (BL17)), WeishuBL21 (Weishu (BL21)), MingmenGV4 (Mingmen (GV4)), ZhongfuLU1 (Zhongfu (LU1)), GuanyuanCV4 (Guanyuan (CV4) Front-Mu Point of the SmallIntestine), ZusanliST36 (ST36), NeitingST44 (Neiting (ST44) Ying-Spring Point), FenglongST40 (Fenglong (ST40) Luo-Connecting Point), ZhongwanCV12 (Zhongwan (CV12) Front-Mu Point of the Stomach), and FengchiGB20 (Fengchi (GB20)) for treatment of anemia.


Methods:
Insert the needle obliquely to upward 0.5-1 cun depth; needling response: local sensation of numbness and distention, radiating downward; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 20 min.
Note:
Be careful not to injure the spinal cord when puncturing.
