Gallbladder Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-short extensor muscle of toes-lateral talocalcaneal ligament-tarsal sinus.
There are the superficial vein of the dorsum of the foot, the lateral dorsal cutaneous nerve of the intermediate dorsal cutaneous nerve of the foot, and the lateral anterior malleolar artery and vein in this area.


Location:
Sit upright, hang down one`s shanks with feet touching the ground, or lie on one`s side; anterior and inferior to lateral malleolus, lateral to the tendon of musculus extensor digitorum longus, in the depression of talocalcaneal articulation.
Function:
Soothing the liver and normalizing the functions of the gallbladder, clearing away heat and dredging the meridians.


Indications:
Pain in the neck, swelling in the subaxillary region, pain in the hypochondriac region, vomiting, acid regurgitation, muscular atrophy of the lower limbs, pain and swelling in the external malleolus, and malaria.


Prescription:
Combined use with QimenLR14 (Qimen (LR14) Front-Mu Point of the Liver) for treatment of cholecystitis; with SanyangluoTE8 (Sanyangluo (TE8)) for treatment of intercostal neuralgia; and with TongziliaoGB1 (Tongziliao (GB1)) for treatment of nebula.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly to 0.5-0.8 cun depth; needling response: local sensation of numbness and distention; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
