Gallbladder Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-external oblique muscle of abdomen-internal oblique mudcke of abdomen-transverse muscle of abdomen.
In the superficial layer, there are the lateral cutaneous branches of the anterior branches of the 9th to 11th thoracic nerves and the occompanying arteries and veins. In the deep layer, there are the muscular branches of the anteror branches of the 9th to 11th thoracic nerves and the related arteres and veins.


Location:
Lie on one`s side; at the meeting point of the middle axillary line and the horizontal line at the level of the navel.
Function:
Regulating menstruation, soothing the liver and gallbladder, regulating the functions of lower jiao.


Indications:
Irregular menstruation, amenorrhea, leukorrhea with reddish discharge, abdominal pain, hernia, and pain in the lumbar and hypochondriac region.


Prescription:
Combined use with XuehaiSP10 (Xuehai (SP10)) for treatment of irregular menstruation; with GuanyuanCV4 (Guanyuan (CV4) Front-Mu Point of the SmallIntestine) for treatment of adnexitis; and with GuanyuanCV4 (CV4), QihaiCV6 (Qihai (CV6)), SanyinjiaoSP6 (Sanyinjiao (SP6)), BaihuanshuBL30 (Baihuanshu (BL30)), and JianshiPC5 (Jianshi (PC5) Jing-River Point) for treatment of leukorrhea with reddish discharge.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly to 0.5-1 cun depth; needling response: local numbness and distention; moxibustion: using 5-7 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
Note:
Its related organs include the ascending colon ( right colon ), the descending colon ( left colon ), the small intestine and the sigmoid colon etc in the abdominal cavity.
