Gallbladder Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-superior anricualr muscle-temporal fascia-temporal muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the auriculotemporal nerve and the parietal branches of the superficial temporal artery and vein. In the deep layer, there are the branches of the anterior and posterior deep temporal nerves.


Location:
Sit upright with one's back propped, or lie prostrate on one's side; on the juncture of upper 3/4 and lower 1/4 of the curve connecting TouweiST8( Touwei (ST8)) and QubinGB7(Qubin (GB7)).
Function:
Clearing heat, expelling wind and relieving pain.


Indications:
Migraine, pain in the outer canthus, tinnitus, and susceptible to dysphagia.


Prescription:
Combined use with FengchiGB20 (Fengchi (GB20)) for treatment of Vertigo; witb DazhuiGV14 (Dazhui (GV14)) for treatment of epilepsy; and with JiuweiCV15 (Jiuwei (CV15) Luo-Connecting Point) for treatment of migraine.


Methods:
Insert the needle subcutaneously to 0.5-1 cun depth; needling response: local sensation of numbness and distention; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 3 min.
