Gallbladder Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-orbicular muscle of eye-temporal fascia-temporal muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the zygomaticofacial and zygomaticotemporal branches of the zytomatic nerve. In the deep layer, there are the anterior and posterior deep temporal nerves and the branches of the anterior and posterior deep temporal arteries and veins.


Location:
Sit upright with one's back propped; bid the patient close his ( her ) eyes, at the spot where the stria of the outer canthus spots.
Function:
Dispelling wind and heat, improving eyesight and relieving pain.


Indications:
Headache, redness and pain of the eyes, failing of vision, lacrimation, and deviation of the eye and mouth.


Prescription:
Combined use with GanshuBL18 (Ganshu (BL18)), and FengchiGB20 (Fengchi (GB20)) for treatment of retinal hemorrhage; with JingmingBL1 (Jingming (BL1)), HeguLI4 (Hegu (LI4) Yuan-Source Point) for treatment of conjunctivitis; with HeguLI4 (LI4), JingmingBL1 (BL1), and ToulinqiGB15 (Toulinqi (GB15)) for treatment of cataract; and with HeguLI4 (LI4), TaiyangEXHN5 (EX-HN5) and YintangEXHN3 (EX-HN3) for treatment of trigeminal neuralgia.


Methods:
Insert the needle obliquely to 0.5-0.8 cun depth towards exterior; needling response: local distention; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
Note:
Don`t puncture deeply.
