Triple Energizer (San Jiao) Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-between bases of 4th and 5th proximal phalabgeak bones-4th dorsal interossous muscle and 4th lumbrical muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the dorsal digital of the ulnar nerve and the dorsal venous network of the hand. In the deep layer, there are the dorsal digital arteries and vein.


Location:
Make a loose fist with the centre of the palm facing downward; at the end of the fissure between the 4th and the 5th finger, on the dorso-ventral boundary of the hand.
Function:
Refreshing the mind, regulating the function of Sanjiao.


Indications:
Malaria, headache, laryngopharyngitis, tinnitus, deafness, myospasm and myalgia of forearm, pain in the dorsum of hand, finger swelling and pain, psychosis, gingivitis, and leucoma.


Prescription:
Combined use with FengchiGB20 (Fengchi (GB20)) for treatment of common cold; with TaiyangEXHN5 (EX-HN5), and JingmingBL1 (Jingming (BL1)) for treatment of conjunctivitis; and with YujiLU10 (Yuji (LU10) Ying-Spring Point) for treatment of laryngalgia.


Methods:
Insert the needle obliquely, 0.3-0.5 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 5-10 min.
