Kidney Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-anterior sheath of rectus muscle of abdomen-rectus muscle of abdomen.
In the superficial layer, there are the periumbilical subcutaneous venous network, the anterior cutaneous branches of the anterior branches of the 10th to 12th thoracic nerves and the accompanying arteries and veins. In tne deep layer, there are the branches or tributaries of the inferior epigadtric artery and vein, the muscular branches of the anterior branches of 10th to 12th thoracic nerves and the related intercostal arteies and veins.


Location:
Supine position; firstly, locate YinjiaoCV7(Yinjiao (CV7)) 1 cun vertically below umbilicus, then 0.5 cun lateral to YinjiaoCV7(CV7).
Function:
Regulating menstruation, inducing diuresis, regulating the function of the intestines, and purging away the heat.


Indications:
Irregular menstruation, ovaritis, salpingitis, orchitis, lumbago, abdominalgia, constipation, enteritis, conjunctival congestion, and keratitis.


Prescription:
Combined use with TaixiKI3 (Taixi(KI3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point) for treatment of urocystitis; and with ZhigouTE6 (Zhigou (TE6)) for treatment of constipation.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 1-1.5 cun deep; needling response: local numbness, distension and heaviness; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, mild moxibustion for 15 min.
Note:
Zhongzhu (KI15) its related organs include mainly the greater
omentum and the small intestine, etc. in the abdominal cavity.
