Differentiations

We randomly select 200 cases of blood viscosity syndrome (BVS) of each type from clinic, and make TCM differentiation, then aims to find relation of BVS with TCM differentiation. Results:

1. Among 800 cases of BVS, there are 552 cases of blood stasis. Blood stasis takes respective percentage of 376, 99, 66 and 11 with the order of BVS types, BHS, BHLS, BLHS and BLS, there is significant difference, blood stasis syndrome is obviously decreased when BVS turns from BHS to BLS.
2. Among 800 cases of BVS, there are 206 cases of phlegm retention. Phlegm retention takes respective percentage of 53, 53, 52 and 48 with the order of BVS types, BHS, BHLS, BLHS and BLS, there is no significant difference, phlegm retention has no obvious change when BVS turns from BHS to BLS.
3. Among 800 cases of BVS, there are 42 cases that are not blood stasis or phlegm retention. According to TCM differentiation, this type can be classified into: a. deficient syndrome (including qi, blood, yin or yang deficiency etc ); b. phlegm syndrome; c. other syndromes.
Deficient syndrome takes respective percentage of 0, 4, 9 and 19 with the order of BVS types – BHS, BHLS, BLHS and BLS, there is significant difference, deficient syndrome is obviously increased when BVS turns from BHS to BLS.
4. On all of types of BVS, blood stasis is main type.
