1. Cough with itching in the throat caused by lung and spleen qi deficiency
Itching in the throat like ants moving, frequent and mild cough that is worse after cold attack and off-smell, spontaneous sweating, aversion to cold, lassitude, severe cough after moving. Combined with poor appetite, sallow complexion, pale face, loose stool, cold sensation on limbs, pale tongue with thin and white coating, thready and weak pulse. Examination on local region: on obvious congestion, lymph follicle hyperplasia on throat backwall, pale color, vocal cord is not totally closed during severe cough. Ingredients: Dang Shen, Bai Zhu, Dang Gui, Gou Ji Zi, huai Shan Yao, sheng Huang Qin, Fu Ling, Chan Tui, Jiang Can, zhi Gan Cao.
2. Dry throat and cough due to lung and kidney yin deficiency
Dry and burning sensation in the throat, slightly pain on the throat, worse at night, even hoarseness voice, when prolonged, combined with tidal fever, night sweating, weakness and soreness on the low back and knee joints, red tongue with scanty or no coating, thready and rapid pulse. Examination on local region: darkish red, dry and thin on membrane of throat, membrane atrophy or lymph follicle hyperplasia or angiotelectasis. Ingredients: Sheng Di Huang, Shu Di Huang, zhe Bei Mu, Sha Shen, Shi Hu, Mai Dong, Zhi Mu, Bai He, Huang Jing, Yu Zhu, Wu Wei Zi.
