Internal Medicine

There are 94 out-patients who were randomly divided into two groups. There are 64 cases in the treatment group, 30 cases in the contrast group. Diagnosis: at least 1 hour stiffness of joint in the morning (more than 6 weeks); above 3 joints with joint swelling (more than 6 weeks); hand joints or metacarpophalangeal joints or proximal interphalangeal joints have joint swelling (over 6 weeks); symmetry swelling; there are subcutaneous nodules; hand X-ray shows there are rheumatoid arthritis change; rheumatoid factor (+). If there are 4 items which mentioned above, we could make the diagnosis. Treatment method: for treatment group: using Feng Shi capsule (Dang Gui, Chuan Xiong, Chi Shao Yao, Tao Ren, Hong Hua, Dan Shen, Chuan Niu Xi, Qing Jiao, Fang Feng, Lu Xian Cao, Sang Ji Sheng, Xu Duan, Yin Yang Huo, Bu Gu Zhi, raw Gan Cao etc). Control group: with methotrexate or Reed Auranofin (Auranofin), sulfasalazine and non-steroidal painkillers treatment. 4 weeks are for a course of treatment, continuing for 3 courses.

Result: for treatment group, the total effective rate is 87.5%; as to contrast group, the effective rate is 66.7%. There is obvious difference between the two groups in treatment effective rate (P<0.01). The effective rate of treatment group is evidently higher than that of the contrast group.
